Catherine the Beautiful

"Black and White Sunshine"

This is Catherine. One of my Christ-Sisters. She's got that kind of raw beauty that I find incredibly beautiful. Catherine is one of the most talented people I've met. She sings, she dances, she acts, she writes. Pretty cool. I love watching her perform because she does it so well. Maybe a little bit of a perfectionist, but hey, it pays off in a lot of situations.
I took these pictures last April. She had come over to my house so I could test out some make-up ideas for her prom. It was really fun 'cus Catherine hardly ever where's make-up so it was exciting to be playing with someone who had no expectations. When we went outside to take pictures, I couldn't get over how gorgeous she looked. I kept quoting A Knight's Tale, when Chaucer is introducing Will and the crowd goes wild for his words so he exclaims to himself, "Gah, I'm good!" Catherine found this particularly funny. So I'll give the glory of her beauty to the One who gave it to her.
I love you, Catherine.
And, yes, her eyes really are that colour.

My Shoes Are Talking

"Standing on my Feet"

I am a Chuck Taylor, All-Star kind of girl. Converse are my shoe. They're classically cool and "tuff". The 1950s are my my favorite decade. The Outsiders, baseball, poodle skirts, saddle shoes and bobbie socks, getting pinned on the school bus, leather jackets, Conrade Birdie, Marilyn Monroe, Rock 'n Roll, Elvis, the Jitterbug. And the love of my life, James Dean. High tops are the kind of shoe that never go out of style. They tell stories from the past. Not only are chucks made out of canvas, but they are also a canvas for me. As you can see, I like to write on my cons. I write words or phrases on my shoes that have meaning to me. It might be complete jibberish to someone else but for me, nothing is on accident. Everything has a meaning. My shoes talk about who I am.
So pay attention! If you're trying to find out about a person, look at their shoes. People can talk with more than their mouths.
Have a rockin' Wednesday!

Here's to the New Year

"Pink Drink"

Happy New Year Everyone! I spent New Years Eve with my family at home. It was small but definitely not quiet. We set off fireworks in the street and toasted the New Year with Shirley Temples and Chocolate Covered Oreo's ... and maybe a little champagne. It was pretty cold out so I put on my awesome blue striped gloves. I love the colour contrast between the pink and blue in this picture. I hope everyone had a good holiday and makes the most of this new year!

Come On Home

"My Brother's Shoulder"

My Christ-Sister came back to Atlanta a few weeks ago. She moved to Birmingham at the end of the summer and it was pretty devastating to our little family. It's kinda like sandblasting the mortar out from between the bricks in a wall. She denies this fact but when she does I just remind of how when she came home in December, everyone showed up. Strange. I love this picture. That's Casey and our brother Mac. They are both two of the beautifullest (if that's a word) people in my world. I love them to death. I'm just gonna say that it's really cool to see how love grows and evolves.
Peace.

Hearts and a Rosary

"Heart"

Hey hey! I Hope everyone is enjoying the start of the holiday season. We finally brought our tree inside today. I named her Fredricka. She looks like a Fredricka. Pictures to come, in all likelihood. We'll be decorating tonight. Fun fun. Decorating is one of my favorite parts of Christmas. I have no idea why though. It just is.
One morning a few days ago I was walking past the coffee table in the living room and my little sister's necklace was lying on it. It was twisted into the shape of a heart. The pendent on it is also a heart. My mom and dad got it for her when they sent to the island St. Croix over the summer. It was so perfect already and all I had to do was take the picture. Hearts are very important things. And I mean that literally and figuratively. Without hearts how would we love? So today I am thankful for a brave heart that has the capability to love lots of people.

"Prayer"

My dear friend made this leather rosary for me. My grandma was Catholic so rosaries have some sentimental value to me. My friend went on a missions trip to Honduras and he made a bunch of rosaries for the kids. He had some left over so he gave one to me. It's is friends like these that make me think of Philippians 1:3. "I thank God every time I remember you."

And so, friends, Philippians 1:3. Merry Christmas!

The Fabulous Fox Theatre

"Fabulous Light"

I took this picture at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, (hence the name "'Fabulous' Light"). My aunt and uncle got me a ticket to see Wicked for my birthday so I went with them, my cousin and her boyfriend and my other cousin, Wyndi, who is my age. It was a blast! During intermission, Wyndi and I went down to the bathroom. For all y'all who have been to the Fox, you know how incredible it is. As usual the line was long so Wyndi and I had some time to fool around. I love this picture of the light sconce on the wall. It turned out cool with the redish and blueish colors and the light and dark. I love the Fox Theatre because of how when you go into it, you can really feel like your in an Arabian Palace. It's one of my many dreams to perform there. I love the ambiance of it all. Very cool, very cool. This second picture... well, I'll let it speak for itself.

"Telephone Tourist"

This is my cousin, Wyndi. There's an old telephone booth down in the lounge outside the bathroom. We found it very cool. Wyndi lives in the middle of nowhere so she had her camera out all night for the sites of downtown Atlanta, my hometown. The phone booth was held a great deal of excitement. And, even as a native and a frequent visitor of the Fox Theatre, I must admit, I still get awestruck at the magnificence of this place.

Have a Relaxing Sunday!
